The Maradona family in mourning again. Hugo Maradona, brother of Diego Armando Maradona, died today, December 28, from cardiac arrest. The death occurred at 11:50 a.m. today.
The 52-year-old lived in the Flegrean area, in Monte di Procida, in the province of Naples. Hugo Maradona died at his home, while health workers arrived on the scene who ascertained the tragic fact.
The situation becomes very painful because the younger brother dies a year after the death of Diego Armando Maradona, which occurred on November 25, 2020 in Argentina. Diego’s younger brother, like him and his other brother, Raul, named Lalo, started a football career at a very young age.
At the age of 18 he was bought by Napoli, the newly proclaimed Italian champion, who loaned him to Ascoli. The two also played as opponents, but Hugo’s career then took other paths: Rayo Vallecano in Spain, experience in Austria and Japan, before returning to Naples and devoting himself to youth football.
In past years, he also directed the Boys Quarto. Unlike his brother Diego, Hugo was able to afford the luxury of living in Naples and roam freely, despite his heavy surname and striking resemblance to his well-known brother.
