For the first time in Turkey’s history, wind is the main source of electricity

The Electricity Transmission Corporation has announced that wind energy has become the largest source of electricity generation, for the first time in Turkey’s history, with a 22.6 per cent share.

Wind power generator parks generated 178,964 megawatt-hours of total daily electricity production which was a total of 791,794 megawatt-hours.

The installed capacity of wind-generated electricity reached 10,585 megawatts, making it the second largest renewable energy capacity after hydropower.

Yesterday, natural gas power plants produced 22 percent of electricity, while imported coal-fired power plants produced 17.8 percent.
