Drake withdraws from Grammy nominations

The Grammy Awards have been a hotbed of criticism in recent years with artists nominating for awards. Many singers have occasionally boycotted the ceremony, with The Weeknd not attending as his album “After Hours” was not nominated in any category.

This year it is his Canadian colleague, Drake who has sensationally pulled out his two nominations for the upcoming Grammy Awards 2022, as reported by Variety.

Drake, 35, was vying for Best Rap Album with “Certified Lover Boy” and Best Rap Performance for his song “Way 2 Sexy”.

When contacted by The Post, Drake’s representatives declined to comment. However, an insider close to his camp confirmed to The Post that it was a decision made by Drake himself – and the Grammy honored his request.

The Hotline Bling rapper has previously won just four Grammy Awards, including for best rap album and best rap song. That’s still a lot less than his peers, given that Jay-Z has won 23 Grammys to date.

The Grammys are considered the most prestigious awards in the music industry and are voted on by members of the Recording Academy, an elite organization made up of performers, producers and audio engineers.

Drake was one of five artists in each of the categories in which he was nominated. Variety reports that he will not be substituted in any of the categories and the remaining four artists will now fight for each of the awards.
