Arrested 18 former NBA players, created a fraud scheme

A large group of former NBA players have been indicted in Federal Court in New York for a suspected health insurance fraud scheme, causing almost $ 4 million in damage to the League Profit Plan.

There are 18 former players indicted, including Terrence Williams, the 11th elected in the 2009 draft and considered the mastermind of the fraud scheme.

Also included is Tony Allen, selected six times part of the best defensive team in the NBA. In trouble also Shannon Brown, Glen Davis, Sebastian Telfair or Darius Miles, the third choice in the 2000 draft.

Alan Anderson, who has been part of several NBA teams such as the Nets, Raptors and Clippers, is also among those arrested for this fraud. He has also played in Europe for Maccabi and Barcelona; Antoine Wright, who after NBA experience spent a year at Estudiantes; William Bynum, Melvin Ely, Christopher Douglas-Roberts, Tony wroten, Milt Palacio, Ruben Patterson, Eddie Robinson, Gregory Smith and Jamario Moon.

The defendants are facing charges of fraud. According to the indictment, they allegedly participated in a scheme they ran from 2017 to 2020 to defraud the NBA Players Health and Welfare Benefit Plan by filing reimbursement claims for medical and dental services which did not have never taken them.
